Lynne Bea Ragsdale, 72, a cherished wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at home on April 6th 2018, surrounded by family and loved ones. She is survived by her husband Bill, daughters Emily Michael (Brent) and Carol Sturman (Peter), sisters Mirth Miller (Lola) and Sandy Ragsdale (Gary), as well as her beloved grandchildren Chandler, Madison, Tyler, Cody and Samantha.
Lynne was born and raised in Portland and lived her entire life in the city she loved, but always kept a special place in her heart for her family’s Century Farm in central Oregon. In her young and active years she was an avid deer hunter and loved fishing for trout and salmon. She attended Portland State University and enjoyed a long and successful career in advertising sales.
In her retirement, Lynne dedicated much of her time to the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp for Children and Adults with Disabilities, as well as serving as President and board member for her local Kiwanis club for over 15 years. The camp was her true passion and the work she did, side by side with Bill, provided numerous opportunities to many campers throughout the years.
Along with volunteer work, Lynne valued spending time with her grandchildren and spent countless hours traveling to Chandler’s wrestling tournaments, Madison’s soccer games and Samantha’s recitals. She was an avid cinema buff and considered dinner and a movie the perfect evening out.
Known for her infectious grin, Lynne was always there with a quick smile, a supportive word of encouragement and many pearls of wisdom.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday May 12th at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. In lieu of flowers, please make generous donations in her name to the Mt Hood Kiwanis Camp, 10725 SW Barbur Blvd. Suite 50, Portland, OR 97219
