Agnes Louise Bailey passed away on April 16, 2013 in Gresham, Oregon at the age of 91. She was born on November 16, 1921 in Ft. Payne Alabama to parents Franklin and Ida Leath. She lived in Alabama until she married John Bailey. They moved to the Northwest to work in the shipyards. They had two children, Glenda and Jerry. Glenda passed away at the age of 10, and as a result, Louise was always fiercely protective of her family. She was a strong Christian woman, and very involved with her church, including teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years. Louise had several different occupations throughout her life, including migrant worker, working at a cannery, and at the Portland Shipyards. The one she was most proud of, however, was her work at home with her family. Louise was a compassionate and forgiving woman, who loved to be around people.
Louise was preceded in death by her daughter, Glenda and husband, John. She is survived and missed by her son and daughter in law, Jerry and Teri Bailey, sister, Doris Gifford, two grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday April 18 from 3-5pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held for Louise at 12:30 on Friday April 19, 2013, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, a reception will follow, and she will be laid to rest privately at Gresham Pioneer Cemetery.
