Mrs. Lila Lee Maupin Dalbey

Lila was born on August 21, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri and was the daughter of Edward and Maritha (Rice) Maupin. She attended school in Richmond, California and on September 6, 1952, she married Michael Wirth in California. They were later divorced. On September 17, 1972, she married Gary E. Dalbey in Reno Nevada. They moved to Gresham that same year and were happily married until his death in 1991.

Lila moved to Portland In 1956 where she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company and later for Ness and Company where she retired in 1976.

Lila was a very energetic woman who possessed a strong will, a great sense of humor and a love for her family that was unconditional. Much of her boundless energy and love was given to raising her four children and, in the latter half of her life, enjoying the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who blessed her life and in turn were blessed by her presence in theirs. She was supportive and selfless and would do anything to lend a helping hand. She also had many hobbies. She was also a creative woman who loved arts and crafts, working with ceramics and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling with her family on numerous occasions to Hawaii.

Lila is survived by her children, Linda Stahl and her husband, Brian of The Dalles, Rhonda Pilkington and her husband, Floyd (Bud) of Gresham, Mark Wirth of Corvallis and Mitch Wirth of Portland and sisters, Carla Michener of Concord, California, Sharon Sears of Arizona and Nicki Pickel of California along with 5 grandchildren, Nate, Amy, Taylor, Matthew and Alexis and 2 great grandchildren, Emma and Evan along with 2 great grandchildren on the way.

A celebration of Lila’s life will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 11:00 am at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon. A committal service will take place on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 1:30 pm at Willamette National Cemetery. Contributions may be made in memory of Lila to the American Heart Association. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
