Leslie Jean Mehrlich, 54 of Gresham OR, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. She was born on March 3, 1959 in Salem, Oregon to Howard and Barbara (Downen) Stevenin. She grew up in Vancouver, Washington and has lived in Gresham, Oregon for 31 years.
Leslie passed away, in her sleep at home, from kidney cancer early morning on June the 4th. Leslie enjoyed swimming and playing the clarinet as a child, and worked with her mother as a waitress until she married Robert Mehrlich in her early 20’s. After her two daughters started school full time Leslie started a job at the local roller skating rink that would last until her final year. Leslie loved life, and proved that by her many camping trips, annual Las Vegas vacations, and annual costume Bunco party for Halloween. Leslie had a no nonsense way about her that kept her friends close and enemies far away. She was a good friend, a great sister, and a loving mother.
She is survived by her two daughters, Megan 27, and Rachel 25; her older sister Michele, and younger sister E. Janine; and her partner of over ten years, Jamie Coleman. She was 54 years old and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Leslie’s Life will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
