Lawrence Henry Holm passed away on April 11, 2018, in Portland. He was born on October 8, 1929, in May Superior, Wisconsin, to Otto and Edith (Pearson) Holm. He attended East High School in Superior, Wisconsin.
In 1951, Lawrence enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served until he was honorably discharged in October of 1953. One month later on November 7, he married the love of his life, Jane Erickson. Shortly after the wedding, they moved to Southern California, where they lived for seven years. Lawrence worked in an oil refinery during this time. They then moved to Portland in 1960, and Lawrence became a carpenter. They became members of City Bible Church, and they attended until Lawrence was unable to do so due to his health.
Lawrence enjoyed fishing, gardening, and building houses. He was proud of the three family homes that he built. He will always be remembered as a man who was dedicated to his family, whom he loved dearly, and as an amazing husband, father and grandfather.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Jean Larson and Doris Plunkett, and his brothers, Ray, Leonard, Richard and Robert. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jane Holm; his children, Gary (Diane) Holm and Sharon (Johnny) Johnson; his grandchildren, Aaron Holm, Amy Coffee, Jared Holm, Cali Rivera, and Lindy Shaddy; as well as nine great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018, at 11:00 am at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Willamette National Cemetery.
