Kathleen A. Allen

Kathleen “Kathi” Allen, 70 of Oregon City, passed away on July 1, 2016. She was born in Forest Grove, Oregon to Jules and Elizabeth (Lee) Matzek, and she was raised with two siblings, Randy Matzek and Julie (Matzek) DeLucia. Kathi graduated from Forest Grove High School, and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Oregon. She was married to Brian Allen for 48 years, but the couple had known each other for over 67 years, having both been in the same wedding when they were three years old (Kathi as the flower girl and Brian as the ring bearer). Eighteen years later, they walked down the same church aisle to exchange their own marriage vows. Kathi left a career as a medical technician to dedicate her life to raising her family. In her later years, Kathi was an active member of Lynchwood Christian Church and had a passion for living. She was known for socializing with everyone she came in contact with and being a true and loyal friend. She enjoyed traveling with her family and creating memories with her husband, children and grandchildren (who affectionately referred to her as their LaLa). Kathi will be remembered for her amazing spirit, sly sense of humor and her devotion to her family. Her presence will be deeply missed. Kathi was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her husband Brian; children Brett (Julee) Allen and Jennifer (David) Hammond; and two grandsons Carson and Lucas Hammond. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Thursday, July 7th at 1pm at Lynchwood Christian Church in Portland. Kathi will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery.
