11/01/1950 - 01/11/2022
Karis is survived by her husband of 24 years, Terry Hill, son, Jake Miller, daughter, Erika Miller-Robins, son-in-law, Brian Robins, four grandchildren, Eden Miller, Gabi Miller, Arabel Miller, and Tommy Robins, and two sisters Francie Mondin and Cindy Ostrom. She is also survived by former spouse Hugo Miller.
By occupation she was a graphic artist within the public school system, doing much of her work at Jefferson High for the Jefferson Dancers.
By education she was an English major, and loved working with words. She eventually wrote three books, publishing her most recent work. The content for each work centers on spiritual faith, world history and significant viewpoints.
By faith she was a Christian, having had a remarkable spiritual experience in 1971 that changed the course of her life. From that moment until her death, Jesus Christ was her first love.
By nature Karis was a detailed researcher, and it did not matter what the subject was. As a result, she earned a reputation among friends for being uncommonly bright and informed on complicated topics (religion, politics, history, personal health and language).
Karis' "love language" was "time." Taking generous amounts of time is how she gave love, and also how she received love. Love is one of several stunning virtues she carried with her wherever she went.
Story: One of Karis' granddaughters, Eden, once asked, "Yaya" (moniker for Karis), "What was the happiest time of your life?" And she answered, " Why, now!" And Eden replied, "But you're 70 years old, Yaya! Why not when you were younger?" To which Karis replied, "Because I'm surrounded by my family. All of my grandchildren, my own children and a husband who loves me. It does not get better than this."
