Joan moved to Vancouver at the age of 10, so that her parents could work at the Kaiser Shipyard during WW2. She went on to graduate from Vancouver High School and worked as a secretary at the Seattle First National Bank. At a church activity, Joan met Wallace (Wally) Teuscher, a young dental student. They fell in love and were later married in the Logan, Utah Temple. After his graduation Joan and Wally settled in Vancouver where he began his dental practice.
Joan’s most beloved role was that of being a wife, mother to one son and 5 daughters, and grandmother to 28. Joan’s spiritual life was very important to her. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities including: working with the women, youth, and children’s organizations. In her later years she loved serving at the Portland LDS Temple with her husband. She was passionate about many things including gardening, travel, the arts, reading, entertaining, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Joan is survived by her children: Laurie (Richard) Dyer of Vancouver, WA, Cynthia (Bradley) Alberts of Glenwood, MN, Kristen (William) Clive of Bentonville, AR, Vaughn (Caryn) Teuscher of Vancouver, WA, Kimberly (Jason) Perrins of Deer Park, WA, and Allison (Derek) Vanderwood of Camas, WA: brother Teddy (Candy) Wallace and sister Sheri (Richard) VanEpps; 28 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Teuscher; parents, Hamilton and Alice; brother, Val (Shirley) Wallace; and sister DeYon (Carroll) Bennett.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 13600 SE McGillivray Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98684. Preceding the funeral, a viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m.
