James “Jim” Michael Lewis, or "Mike” as he was known by his Ohio family, was born January 23rd 1951 in Ironton Ohio. Jim passed away December 29, 2022, in Clackamas Oregon at the age of 71.
Jim was born in Ohio, to James and Mabel Lewis. He graduated from Rock Hill High school in 1969. In April of 1971 he enlisted in the United States Army until December 1973 when he went into the Army Reserves. While in the Army Jim was a UH-1 “Huey” helicopter mechanic in the 82d Airborne Division deployed in Korea from Fort Bragg North Carolina.
After the military Jim worked primarily as a truck driver doing long haul first and later locally for Malarky roofing after working on the production line. Jim met his wife Diane Wilson and moved to Portland Oregon in November of 1977, they were married on January 28th 1978. Jim had a passion for aviation he even had his pilot license. Jim also had a love for camping and being on the river fishing with his family in their favorite spots for Salmon and sturgeon. Jim was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa, He loved his two little dogs, they were his babies.
James Michael Lewis is preceded in death by his Father James Edward Lewis, his Mother Mabel Lewis, Brother in law Michael Petty, Son in law Darwin Meacham and Son Daniel Fahey.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Lewis. His Brother and Two Sisters: Raymond and Drema Lewis, Yvonne Petty, Sheila and Michael Kidd. His Children: Dawnette Meacham, Debbie and Dale Wilson, Jeffrey and Christine Wilson, and Michael Lewis. His several grandchildren including: Angela and Tygh Tarlton, Heather Sarha, Aaron Sarha, Jason, Courtney and Shayla Wilson. Numerous great grandchildren, and his two Dogs Peppy, and Peanut.
