Gerhard Alois Heckmann

February 28, 1933 – January 1, 2011

Gerhard was born in Oberkessach, West Germany. He was a Wolfsburg Germany factory trained Volkswagen and Porsche mechanic. He traveled to Portland, OR to work for old Rivera Motors where he met and married his love, Carol Armstrong July 25, 1959. July 21, 1966 he became a naturalized citizen of the United States. He co-owned and operated Heckmann & Thiemann Motors on Powell Blvd, helping even after hours, until his retirement in 2002.

Gerhard enjoyed life with friends and family, adventures of travel, golfing, and gardening.

Gerhard is survived by his wife Carol, of 51 years; son Richard and daughter in-law Ellen Heckmann, daughters Susanne Heckmann and Debra Pulse, grandchildren Amber and Jennyfer Heckmann, Ben and Vanessa Jeffrey, Abigail and Gerhard Pulse, and sister Eugenie Haak.

A service will be held in his honor at St Henry Catholic Church, 346 NW 1st St, Gresham OR 97030 at 10:00 am Friday January 7, 2011.
