I was saddened to hear the passing of Auntie Fusako. I have many fond memories of visiting your family in Portland.
One of my first memories of Auntie Fusako is when she newly married and arrived at Gresham. She demonstrated on putting on her beautiful kimono at the old farmhouse. She was so beautiful and elegant.
Auntie Fusako was generous, caring and seemed so devoted to her family. I always enjoyed her sharing of Japanese culture through playing the koto or performing the tea ceremony. She will be greatly missed.

Fusako and I studied Japanese tea ceremony together.  Our teaacher
was Mrs. Ono.   Therefore, Fusako was my best tea friend. so I miss
her very much.  We always enjoyed learning  the tea ceremony
together.   I pray for her peaceful rest.   With deepest sympathy.

There are no words to describe the sadness that I feel upon hearing the passing of our beloved Auntie Fusako.  I knew of her one condition but I didn’t realize how seriously sick she was.  I was extremely stunned to hear of your and our loss. 
Oh, how I wish we could have visited and talked together one more time.
Auntie Fusako was of grace and courage.  She came to the United States with a brand new husband and started a different unaccustomed new life.
She didn’t speak English but learned. She got a license to drive a car, got a job as a hostess at the Bush Garden, learned to play the Koto, performed Japanese Tea Ceremony at the Portland Japanese Gardens and probably had many other accomplishments I do not know about.  Oh yes, she helped raise two brilliantly smart children into adulthood named Dean and Lisa.
I recall as a young girl, watching her putting on her makeup for her wedding reception and wearing her beautiful kimono.
I will remember Auntie Fusako’s inquisitive mind.  She always had a “get up and go see” attitude.  She would say “No, I did not know that” or “let me see” or “show me”.
My mom, Mary, always looked forward to her, Uncle Robert and Auntie Rosie’s visits.  Sometimes they even went to Jackpot, Nevada to go gambling or have a root beer float at the A&W in the nearby town of Nyssa.
Auntie Fusako was kind and a thoughtful person. She knew I liked Japanese things and kimonos. I have been a recipient of a few of them, in which I am very  appreciative.
I will never forget her effervescent personality and happy smile. I surely will miss her dearly.

Fusako was such a peaceful spirit. Lois and I would visit when she passed by on her evening walks. It was always a joy to visit about the neighborhood and how she and Robert were doing. It was sucha a simple act of neighboring but so important to sustain all of our lives.



I was six years old when I first met Auntie Fusako. She was a beautiful young bride in her gorgeous silk kimono at her wedding reception. Uncle Robert was so happy and beaming with love. 

Because of the distance between us living in Nyssa and Portland, we didn’t see each often but we always kept close in touch. I will always remember how delighted we were to see each other and to have a nice visit. Auntie Fusako was always interested in our hobbies and activities. I can still see her leaning over with her hands clasped behind her back listening intently to every word. 

I’ll always be grateful to her as she came to my school where I was teaching in Neskowin and performed a tea ceremony with all the students.

Auntie Fusako will be dearly missed, but I will 
always have fond loving memories of her!
