Born on August 19, 1951, in Portland, Oregon, to Claire and Ted Matney, Debra was raised in Gresham, Oregon, where she developed a love for life that would define her journey.
In 1979, Debra married her devoted husband, Brian Knox, in a joyful ceremony in Las Vegas. Their love story began through mutual friends, and together they blended their families, embracing a “Yours, Mine, and Ours” dynamic. Debra’s heart grew even larger with the arrival of their daughter, adding to the warmth of their home.
Debra enjoyed a fulfilling career as a permit coordinator for the City of Oregon City, where her dedication and expertise were well-respected. Beyond her professional life, she found joy in her hobbies, which included sewing, reading, and cherishing moments with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was often described as spunky, warm-hearted, and fair-minded—a true embodiment of strength and love.
Debra is survived by her loving husband, Brian; son, Brad; daughters, Kayla and Trish; grandsons, Jeron and Alex; granddaughter, Jaime; and twin great-granddaughters, Sophia and Alina. Her legacy of kindness and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Debra’s life will be held at a later date.
