We are so thankful to have made such wonderful memories when you were here in Spain in 2015 and after Boone was born. You were so adventurous and willing to try new things. I know you have passed this curiosity about the world onto your boys. You are missed, Dave.

My deep condolences to David's family and loved ones. I work at the county building reception desk and often saw him at the end of the day when he came into the office to write notes. He was a great colleague at Multnomah County and had a vibrant, kind spirit. He brought lots of positivity to the workplace and was always willing to help others.  He will be deeply missed.

I was blessed  while at Coach Terry T basketball camp  in grade  school to meet Dave and we quickly became good friends.  We would sneak away on breaks to explore the boiler room and maintenance rooms  pretending to be on some fantasy DnD adventure looking for monsters.  Thanks for always being a friend, until we meet again.

I am so sad to know he is gone. He was an incredible person . 

When I met David he was a ray of sunshine to our family, he work with my husband Alex Reyes at Multnomah County, from then on he was part of our family he spent many times with us at our home. He was like my own,  I will miss him dearly and will always remember the days that he was in our lives.


I've had the pleasure to work with Dave since he came to work for Multnomah County in 2000. I never got to spend much time with him in the field, but since I became his manager in 2010, I got to work with him every day and see his smiling face every morning to start the day. He was the kind of guy that you can't help but like, and he brightened every room he was in. We'll miss him greatly as a coworker, but even more so as a friend

David was my first friend here at Multnomah County after I moved here last December. We hit it off immediately and I knew he was going to be a great dude to work with. I couldn't have been more correct about that. More importantly, we became good friends. We had long conversations about our kids, our relationships, music, and life in general. We all loved him very much here, and his loss is felt very deeply. David, you were a hell of a father, surveyor and friend. I am forever grateful for having known you man. We will look after your crew for you bud. Rest in Peace.

I became friends with Dave early in college. He was hometown friends with one of my roommates, and we remained close the whole time we were there. Dave was so kind, outgoing, and I vividly remember how he was always smiling. I’ll always cherish the time I shared with him, and all of the joy he brought to all of us. Rest easy, old friend.

I first met Dave in college. He’d roll into town in his pickup truck with a cheap guitar. I’m not sure it was ever in tune. He always had a smile on his face. An unforgettable face with that pronounced jawline. Dave and I became real close late in college when he started dating one of my best friends, Esther. The three of us moved out to Oregon together in January of ‘98. We left Pennsylvania during a snow storm. A few days later we were tromping around the Arizona desert on the adventure of a lifetime. We were so broke and weren’t sure if either car would make the trek to Oregon. Above is a photo of Dave and I somewhere in Arizona or New Mexico. Probably stopping for our one meal of the day. 
Dave and I lost touch in the early 2000’s. I knew he’d moved up to the mountain and had fallen on tough times for a bit. He was impossible to find. I assumed that was by design. Living off the grid. I’m being flooded with so many memories. I hope you’re at peace my friend. 

David was a loving, compassionate, hard working father. He was genuine in his feelings for loved ones and others. I will sorely miss him. Rest In Peace David. Say hello to Jackie for me. Love, Aunt Kathy💔🙏

Dave meant so much to me. I don’t remember becoming friends with him, it was just instantaneous. He made everyone feel special with his kindness and humor! My very deepest condolences to all of his family and friends. My married name is now Kranz and we always thought that was funny.  Dave will never be forgotten ♥️

I'll never forget all of our fun times together on the mountain and in his sweet mountain cabin.  Dave was always so generous in letting us invite ourselves up to stay overnight after a long day of skiing.  I'll forever treasure our time together.

I have known Dave since 1st grade and he was always a gentle soul. His laugh was infectious and he always wanted everyone around him to be happy. For a guy who was a beast on the football field, Dave was the most docile human. He was so tough, never cried (at least when we were kids) and could not help but make others laugh. I hope Mike Bluey and I can get together to remember the Dave Kranz we know from 3rd grade… some of his best years. Rest in peace good friend.

My sincere condolences to the Kranz family a special prayer for Jamie, Boone and Zane as they work through the loss of David. May the lord bless and keep you in his almighty grip and May you lean heavily on the good memories that you shared with David.

It is with great sadness to know that David is no longer with us. We are sending lots of love to his family. I remember the first time we met David, him and Jamie cooked a delicious stir fry dinner for us while we were visiting the West Coast family. He was fun and engaging and we truly enjoyed the evening with the two of them. The few visits we have had with David he was always kind to us. May he rest in peace.
