Gresham resident David Korwin, 83, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
David was born October 26, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Helen and Justin Korwin. When David was 2 years old he moved with his parents and older brother Peter to Williston, North Dakota, where he resided until he left for college at the age of 18.
David attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota for 2 years, served in the Army in Korea for 2 years, and returned to UND to complete his degree in geology. After graduation he moved to Southern California and soon landed in Eugene, Oregon where he attained his teaching degree. He taught high school science in Mt. Shasta and Yreka, Ca for 6 years and then returned to school at Oregon State University where he completed his doctorate degree in biology.
After graduation David began teaching biology and geology at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham. He taught for 28 years and then retired to spend more time fishing, traveling and playing golf.
David is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marcella(Sue), son Christopher, daughter Kathleen, granddaughter Ulysses and brother Peter and family. He is preceded in death by his son Michael and parents Justin and Helen.
A viewing will be held at 10:00 am followed by memorial mass at 11:00am on February 7th at St. Henry's Catholic Church, 346 NW 1st St., Gresham, Oregon
