Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend passed away February 19, 2011. He died of complications of a brain tumor. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, February 26 at Gresham United Methodist Church in Gresham. A committal service with Military Honors will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, February 28 at Willamette National Cemetery.
Frank was born October 7, 1929 in Parsons, Tennessee to William Crawford and Edna Flossie (Cox) Moore. He was one of seven children and also had many half brothers and sisters. Frank attended school in Parsons until he was fifteen, at which time he came to Portland, Oregon to live with his half brother Reader Moore and his wife, Elsie. He attended Roosevelt High School before enlisting in the United States Army in 1948. Frank was wounded in the Korean War in 1951 and was Honorably Discharged in 1952. He met and married Jean Carver in Portland in 1955. After attending business school, he was employed by the US Postal Service, followed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, retiring in 1987.
Frank was a hardworking individual. He was always busy, working on a project or helping a friend or family member with theirs. He enjoyed working hard and would often outwork the younger guys. He did all of this with only his left arm – he had lost his dominant right arm when wounded during the Korean War. He also loved to exercise and go for walks.
Frank is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Dennis Moore and his wife, Shanan of Yacolt, WA; John Moore of Troutdale, OR; daughters, Diana Engstrom and her husband, Terry of Gresham, OR; Julie Tucker and her husband, Brad of Oregon City, OR; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Gresham United Methodist Church (620 NW 8th St., Gresham, OR 97030) or the Disabled American Veterans (Portland Chapter 1, 8725 NE Sandy Blvd., Portland, OR 97225).
Arrangements under the direction of Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, Gresham, OR.
