Charles "Chuck" Allen Tarlton was born March 13th 1931 in Harrisburg Illinois. He was the second of six children born to Bracher Tarlton and Mattie Opal Seets. He passed this life at his Damascus home after a brief hospital stay from congestive heart failure, he was 91. He was preceeded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Beveraly, brothers Val and Lindle Tarlton, sisters Sybil Clark, and Cleo Thackston, son Philip Tarlton, and grandson Josh Mangel.
He is survived by his wife Ruth of Damascus, son David of Troutdale, Daughter Debra Maude, (Dave), and Barbra Payne of Portland, sister Lois Mocklin, (Richard), of Rock Falls Illinois, and Bonus sons Brian, Chris, and Doug Ayers. There are six grandchildren, seven bonus grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, five bonus great grandchildren, and a host of additional family and friends. Chucks formal education was in Harrisburg Illinois. He lied about his age to work in the coal mines like his father, and later the John Deere Plant.
He had a brief youthful marriage that did not survive his deployment in the Airforce. They had one son that did not survive .
While stationed at Fort Lewis, he visited Portland where he met and later married Beverlay Likens. He also fell for the beauty of the North West and all its out door opportunity.
He worked for The Department of Agricultural as a Grain Inspector for State and the Federal Government.
He attended Gresham First Baptist Church since his marriage to Ruth in 2002. There will be a viewing at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home on June 9th, from 10:00 - 11:30 am, and a memorial service at 12 noon.
