Billy “Dale” Garrison, age 80, passed away on March 30, 2012 after suffering from the effects of Alzheimer’s. He is survived by his wife, Eudora Sue (Kenfield) Garrison of Gresham; his daughter, Kathy Davis of Gresham; his sons: Guy of Gresham, Kenneth of Tigard and John of Alaska; sister, Gale England of Modesto, California; nine grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 1 great –great granddaughter, as well as several step grandchildren, greats and great-greats and many nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Garrison.
Dale was born in Healdton, Oklahoma on March 26, 1932 and moved with his parents, Denver Houston and Clara Gertrude (Kelly) Garrison to Torrance, California in 1935. Dale graduated from Narbonne High School in Torrance in 1950. He attended L.A. Trade Tech and graduated from his apprenticeship program. He worked as a journeyman A/C refrigeration technician for 35 years retiring in 1990 from A/C Refrigeration L.A. Local 250.
Dale married his childhood sweetheart, Eudora Sue Kenfield, on June 19, 1953 at the Church of Christ in Linwood, California. They raised their family in Southern California until 1978 when the moved to Gresham, Oregon
He was the household handy man and “fixer upper.” He enjoyed working around the house, bowling, reading and watching John Wayne Western Movies. Dale and his wife traveled the United States in an RV from 1997-2004 and were also snowbirds.
Dale will be remembered as a kind, devoted and loving husband, father and “Papa”. Dale was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for over 65 years.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 11:00 am at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 3rd and Wednesday, April 4th from 10:00 am- 5:00 pm also at Bateman Carroll. A committal service will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Dale to Signature Hospice of Wilsonville or Mt. Hood Care Giver Solutions.
