Andrew Cullen Coombes

Andrew Cullen Coombes, 31, husband of Krystle Coombes of Portland, OR, passed away on Monday, December 24th, 2018, at Portland Adventist Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

He was born May 11th, 1987, to Duane and Elizabeth Coombes in Portland, Oregon.

Andy graduated from Reynolds High School in 2006. After high school he worked various jobs while supporting his passion of coaching high school football. He coached at Madison High School (2010-2012) and Centennial High School (2013-2015). In 2017, he landed his dream job as an assistant varsity football coach for his alma mater and worked with the student management team.

He is survived by his wife Krystle, his parents Duane and Elizabeth, and his brother Ernie, all of Portland, OR. He is also survived by his grandmother Doris Coombes of Hermiston, OR; niece Carley Coombes of Portland, OR; nephew Ethan Hilliard of New York, NY; aunts Beverly Daniels of Pahoa, HI, Jan Pollick of Kennewick, WA, Deanna (Mike) Frantum of Albany, OR, Della (Tom) Jackson of Gridley, CA, Uncle David Coombes of Soldotna, AK, and many cousins. Andy was also the parent of his three beloved dogs.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Ben Coombes of Hermiston, OR; grandparents Ernest and Thelma Pollick of Stanfield, OR; and his uncles John Pollick of Kennewick, WA, and Joe Daniels of Pahoa, HI.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 4th, 2019, at 4:30 PM at Greater Portland Baptist Church, 17800 SE Main St., Portland, OR 97233. At the request of Andy’s family, Reynolds High School Raider gear may be worn in celebration of Andy’s life.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name may be made to Reynolds High School Football Program. The donations will go towards new uniforms for the team. Checks can be made out to Reynolds High School Football Program and mailed to 1698 SW Cherry Park Rd., Troutdale, OR 97060.
