Verna Jean (Scott) Canada, 75, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma passed away Friday, September 28, 2018 in her home. Jeannie was born in a Navy hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas to Herman Bradford Scott and Verna Lee (Walker) Scott Swanner. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold and brother, Kenneth Brad Scott.
Jeannie graduated from Northeastern State University of Tahlequah with a degree in Education. She married Arnold Canada in 1975 and made their home in Greenwood, Arkansas. They were members of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with interment at Liberty Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by one child, Scott H. Fulbright of Sallisaw; her brother, Terry Joe Swanner and wife, Donna of Fort Gibson; three grandchildren, Faith Griffey of Sallisaw, Aaron Fullbright and wife, Kalyn of Shawnee and Melissa Fulbright also of Shawnee; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
