Mark Todd Peters, loving father, grandfather and devoted husband to his wife Teresa, was called home to Heaven unexpectedly on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at a local hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 58. Mark had been fighting an illness for the past three months.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Teresa Peters; one daughter Caitlin Rogers and her husband Deric; a new baby grandson, Luke, his favorite new title was Pops; his mother-in-law, Jean Tichenor; one brother, Michael Peters; one sister-in-law, Amanda Coffman and her husband, Russ and nephew Cannon. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Merlin and Margaret Peters and a brother, James Peters.
Mark was born in Whiting, Iowa on a farm that he loved. Mark had many fond memories of camping trips with his family growing up. He graduated from Whiting High School in 1981 and later graduated from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Mark grew up loving to play in the marching band. He was part of the McDonalds marching band that took him all over the country to play his trombone, one of his greatest treasures. Even playing on the Jerry Lewis Telethon in New York City. He was in a jazz band and sang in many choirs during his life. He loved attending Broadway musicals along with sporting events. He was an avid Razorback fan. He loved to travel with his wife, Teresa and could always be found holding her shopping bags or holding her hand going into the movie theater. Mark loved going to the movies. Mark had a big sense of humor and a strong love of Heinz ketchup.
Mark spent most of his career working in hospitality management at Hardscrabble Country Club and The Town Club in Fort Smith. He spent some time in the insurance business as well. Mark had recently returned to Hardscrabble Country Club as their Assistant Manager. He was happy to have returned to his first love in the service industry and reconnecting with members of the club. He said many times over the last several months he felt he was back home again.
Funeral service will 10 a.m., Thursday, May 27 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood, Arkansas. Viewing will be Wednesday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
