Johnie Wayne Gipson, 81, of Washburn, Arkansas passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Booneville, Arkansas. He was retired from Riverside Furniture Company, a retired rancher and farmer, member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church, veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Berlin Crisis from 1960-1962, veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve serving from 1962-1963 and veteran of the Arkansas National Guard serving with the 296th Medical Company, Booneville, Arkansas from 1963-1966.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 11 at Mount Harmony Baptist Church with burial at Dawson Cemetery with military honors under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Monday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Chateau on the Greens, 10560 So. Hwy. 96 in Greenwood.
He is survived by one son, Jonathan Gipson and wife, Karen of Magazine; one daughter, Diana Gipson of Washburn; grandson, Josh Hart and wife Stephanie of Van Buren; great grandson, Wyatt Hart of Van Buren; sister-in-law, Patsy Gipson and friends of the family, Rev. John and Doris Neihouse family and Kevin and Donna Gilliam family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josette; his parents, Willard and Pearl Gipson and brother, C.A. Gipson.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Gilliam, Bryan Maness, Jared Cummings and Nathan Collins.
