James R. “Bob” Woodhull, Sr. was born on April 3, 1936 to John Lanning Woodhull, Sr. and Edna Johnson Woodhull. He passed peacefully from this life on December 15, 2024 in his home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 88 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Lavonne McCawley Woodhull; his sisters, Vina Carter, Lucile Henderson, June Scott, and Wanda Kolb; his brothers, John Lanning Woodhull, Jr. and Joseph Lee Woodhull and his two grandsons, Dane Frederick Johns and Justin Fujibayashi.
Bob retired from Whirlpool after 30 years. He served as a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Jenny Lind, Arkansas for 38 years. He was the last surviving charter member of the church. Bob possessed many skills that he used to serve his Lord and to minister to many friends and family. He was greatly respected by all who knew him. As a follower of Christ, he was an example to many. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 34 ½ years, Gwen; his daughter, Joyce Freeman; sons, James Robert, Jr. (Maggie) and Jarrell (Tiffany) Woodhull; step-sons, Michael (Sheryl), Stephen (Loretta) and David (Angie) Passen and his 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 18 at Jenny Lind First Baptist Church with burial at Old Jenny Lind Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Tuesday from 3 – 7 p.m. at the church, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Rob Woodhull, Blake Passen, Cody Passen, Tanner Woodhull, Hayden Woodhull, Carter Woodhull, Levi Thornbrugh and Dan Thames. Honorary pallbearers will be the Jenny Lind First Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class, Lee McGehee, Dru Johns, Jay Skinner, Jeremy Gage and J.R. Harris.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Jenny Lind First Baptist Church, 1910 Gate Nine Rd., Greenwood, AR 72936.
