On March 13, 2024 Gwendolyn Joyce Johnson gained her wings and went to walk with the angels. She was 82 years old. Gwendolyn was the daughter of the late Roland J. and Lillian L. Charlton. She was born and raised in Watertown, New York. She married the love of her life Carl N. Johnson in 1959.
She is survived by her sons, Lonnie and Vickie Johnson of Greenwood Arkansas and Todd and Renee Johnson of Hackett Arkansas. She was greatly loved by her many grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Amber Johnson, Shae Winfree, Nathan Johnson, Kaitlin Hobbs, Braden Johnson and Ashley Johnson. She enjoyed spending time with her cherished friends, Georgia and Larry Hardman of Greenwood. She had a great love for her family, as she was the sister to Sharon Gebo, Janice Raso and Roland Charlton; Thomas Charlton, Vernon Charlton, Carl Charlton, Delores Currier and Bonnie Scott preceded her in death.
Gwendolyn held many names as she was a mother, grandma, great grandma, wife, and friend. She blessed anyone fortunate enough to cross her path, as she was the light of many lives. Gwendolyn was strong-willed and bold as she left nothing untouched and lived out each moment to its fullest extent. She poured great love into every blessing in her path and cherished the love of her friends and family. She enjoyed playing cards and cooking meals for her friends and family.
Gwendolyn’s celebration of life will be 2 p.m., Monday, March 18 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Johnson, Braden Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Brian Winfree, Gray Stell and Todd Johnson.
