Glenda Carrol McDougal

Glenda Carole McDougal, age 71, of Greenwood passed away October 26, 2015 at Mercy. Born on November 27, 1943 in Booneville to Glen and Hazel McCartney, she was raised on a dairy farm in Washburn Valley and graduated as class valedictorian at Greenwood High School.

Glenda was a graduate of University of Arkansas with a degree in Social Work. She met and married her husband Tom while residing at Fayetteville, then began a family which included three children; Sean, now a Lt Colonel in the US Army, married to Shannon, living in Augusta, GA; Shelly, who resides in Greenwood; and Stacy, married to Jeff Weaver, who resides in Little Rock. After Tom and Glenda graduated college, they lived in Louisville, KY and then West Fork, before moving back to the Fort Smith area.

Glenda was engaged in community and church activities. She volunteered with juvenile counseling and was an active member of the Church of Christ. Glenda loved her grandkids and showered them with love and affection. Her grandchildren include Ryan, Tyson, Josiah, Addison, Sophia, Hunter, Sloan, and Chase. Other survivors include sister, Darlene Brownfield; sister-in-law June Lewis; many beloved nieces and nephews and family friend, Randy Gazzola.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 31 at Northside Church of Christ in Greenwood with Mark Littlejohn officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
