Gerry Don Vaughn, 53, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away Friday, December 1, 2023 in Fort Smith. He was born December 17, 1969 in Fort Smith to Deborah and Bobby Vaughn. Gerry Don served 23 years with the Arkansas Army National Guard, he loved stock car racing, grilling out, children and his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Amber Vaughn and daughter, Charlie of the home; daughter, Veronica Vaughn of Fort Smith; sons, Kendall and Luke Vaughn of Fort Smith; parents, Bobby Vaughn of Pocola and Deborah and Tommy McClain of Jenny Lind; sister, Wanda Gibbs McClain; three brothers, Travis Vaughn and wife, Machelle of Pocola, Derek McClain and wife, Ashli of Jenny Lind and Johnny McClain of Jenny Lind; mother-in-law, Pam Carter of Jenny Lind; brother-in-law, Zach Carter and wife, Misty; sister-in-law, Suzie McClain of Jenny Lind and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Mary Jean Vaughn, Sandy and Mary Elaine Eatmon and A.J. and Bertha Mae McClain; two brothers, Thomas and Erick Joe McClain; aunt, Regenia Mayo; uncles, Marvin Vaughn, Billy Eatmon, Terry Eatmon, Jerry Don McClain, Danny McClain and Bill McClain and father-in-law, Charlie Carter.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 6 at Greenwood First Baptist Church with burial with military honors at Steep Hill Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Tuesday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the church, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Mike Moore, Cody Lovell, Joshua Vaughn, Braden McClain, Shawn Henry and Ron Grover. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Smith, Bruce Jordan, Chevy Phipps, Alex Moore, Zach Carter, Ted Ridenour, Derek Nichols, Duncan Thomas and his military family.
