Gene Mort

Gene Mort, 72, of Mansfield, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 in Fort Smith. He was born August 5, 1951 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Vyron Glen and Mary Ann (Michael) Mort. He was a retired veteran of the Air National Guard and the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Mort; one son, Christopher Mort and wife, Tara of Mansfield; two daughters, Crystal Mort of Las Vegas, NV and Michelle Wilburn of Fort Smith; one brother, Michael Mort and wife, Jane Ann of Holly Lake, TX and five grandchildren, Caroline, Collins, Blake, Rileigh and Jayce.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 22 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville with burial at the Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Sunday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 2 – 4 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Michael Mort, Christopher Mort, Ryan Mort, Rick Sehorn, Paul Mort and Hank Stripling.
