Charles Walter Ridener, 83 of Greenwood, Arkansas was born July 10, 1931. The Lord took him home Monday, August 25, 2014. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was of the Assembly of God faith. Charlie will be remembered as a God loving Christian, who showed his love for God, family and friends through his words, actions and deeds. He was a 32 degree Mason, a machinist, founder of Circle R Manufacturing in Fort Smith, rancher, trainer of livestock dogs, musician and country and gospel singer.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Wednesday from 1 – 8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, where the family will visit with friends from 6 – 8 p.m.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debbie Ridener; two sons, Terry Ridener of Hackett and Kent Ridener of Greenwood; three daughters, Debbie Jones of Fort Smith, Cindy Pickle and husband, Terry of Mansfield and Karen Shawgo and husband, Fred of Clyde, North Carolina; his sister, Helen and husband, Claud Spain of Fort Smith; he raised three step-sons as his own, Carl Horton, Mark Horton and wife, Marli and Tim Horton and wife, Vaughn all of Van Buren; twenty grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Vina Ridener; his brother, Harold West and sister, Vivian Simck.
Pallbearers will be Tim, Carl and Mark Horton, Tristan Andreas, Evan Horton and Austin Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Kavan, Chuck Ballegeer, Jack Glasier, Ricky Robbins and Ellis Draeger.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Humane Society of Fort Smith.
