Austin Brent Payton

Austin Brent Payton of Fort Smith, Arkansas, formerly of Greenwood, Arkansas was born March 10, 1983 in Fort Smith to Alicia McCann and Steve Payton. He passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 in Fort Smith at the age of 39. Austin’s fervor for life was contagious and he will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Austin is survived by his daughter, Aspen Payton of Greenwood; his mother, Alicia McCann and husband, Brian of Fort Smith; his father, Steve Payton of Fort Smith and Lindy Payton of Hackett; four brothers, Jason Payton and wife, Tracy of Fort Smith, Jeff Payton and wife, Melinda of Greenwood, Jimbo Payton of Hackett and Easton Stroud and wife, Amanda of Fort Smith; two sisters, Brianna Barnett and husband, Josh of Fort Smith and Stephanie Payton of Hackett; one step-brother, Seth McCann of Fort Smith; two step-sisters, Allyx Howard and husband, Phillip of Barling and Jordan DuVall and husband, Jeff of Lavaca; his paternal grandparents, Harold and Betty Payton of Fort Smith; his maternal grandfather, Frank Folsom of Hackett and many other nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, loved ones and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Christian Payton and his maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Floyd.

A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 10 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood.
