Born on September 12, 1922 to Agnes and Stephen Mecsery in Palmerton, PA. The family moved to Stamford,CT shortly after.
He founded Cos Cob Radio & TV in 1945 and started selling and repairing the first tv's in town. He later added video rentals.
He was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the Normandy campaign.
An avid Ham Radio operator from the age of 15, he was a member of the Stamford Amature Radio Association. He enjoyed mentoring new Ham Radio enthusiasts. Steve also enjoyed many years of racing his Bricklin Race Car at Limerock, Ct. racetrack. He collected antique cars,radios and tv"s and loved repairing them.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Dorothy Mecsery, his 4 children, Sean Mecsery (Susan),Stamford,CT, Stephen James (Shiela) Cos Cob,CT, Diane Fowler (Larry) Stamford,CT Sandra Kamen, (John) Tampa, Fl. His 7 grandchildren; Stacey Fowler Collins of Brewster, NY, Abigail Mecsery, of Stamford,CT. Chelsey, Andrew and Alex Kamen of Tampa FL. Stephen James Jr and Michael Mecsery of Cos Cob,CT. Also, 2 great grandchildren, Ashley and Nathan Collins of Brewster,NY.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday May 19, 2012 from 4-6pm, prayer service at 6pm. at Leo P Gallagher & Son, 31 Arch Street Greenwich, CT
