Her family moved to Old Greenwich when Eileen was 12. She graduated from Greenwich High School.
Eileen worked at Greenwich High School in the special education department. She was an oncology volunteer at Greenwich Hospital for several years and then became a hospice volunteer. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and she will be deeply missed by her cherished daughters, Jennifer Kelley, Erin Pierce (Matthew) and Courtney Edwards (Christopher). She had a loving bond with her sister, Suzanne Perry van Rijssen. Eileen had 6 grandchildren, Grayson and Jack Kelley, Sophie and Ella Pierce, and Charlie and Parker Perlitz. She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen (Mac) Edwards and leaves behind three stepsons, Stephen, Joshua and Matthew and seven step grandchildren. Eileen also had a special relationship with her nephew, Michael Perry and her niece, Meaghan Perry. She had many friends whom she considered to be part of her family.
Eileen was a member of Rocky Point Swim Club in Old Greenwich. She was athletic and loved to play golf and tennis. Another of her passions was travel. Eileen will be remembered by her family and friends for her loyalty, kind heart, generosity, determination and unique sense of humor. Her hospitality was legendary, and she loved to entertain her family and friends at her home with her skills as a master on the barbecue. It was Christmas every day in Eileen’s living room.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated May 23rd at Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside, CT at 10 a.m.
