Donna was born August 24, 1927 in Quincy, IL to Guila W. Titus and Paul B. Titus. She was a graduate of William Woods College in Fulton, MO. She married Robert C. Pearce on June 24, 1950 and they moved to Elkhart, IN where their first two daughters were born. In 1954 they moved to Havermeyer Park in Old Greenwich, CT where they lived for more than 40 years and raised their family. Donna enjoyed an early career as a nursery school teacher and spent many years as an executive secretary. She was predeceased by her husband in 1991.
Known for her charm, beauty, kindness and laughter, Donna was dearly loved and had many friends. She particularly cherished a group of friends from Quincy, IL whom she had known since the age of five. They called their group the “PDFC’s” and reunited many times throughout their 75+ years of friendship. As a young woman she loved dance, and she and her husband shared a love of music. Her family meant everything to her and in 1996 she moved to Heritage Village in Southbury, CT to be close to her twin granddaughters born that year.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen Howard of Darien, CT, Barbara Pearce of Greenwich, CT, and Melissa Marr and son-in-law Kevin Marr of Bethel, CT. She is survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Howard and wife Andrea Howard of London, England, Jesse Howard of Stamford, CT, Hanna Marr and Chelsey Marr of Bethel, CT and two great-grandchildren, Meredith Howard and Cameron Howard of London, England. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Titus, sister-in-law Liz Titus and nephews Lee and Tim Titus, all of San Mateo, CA.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Union Memorial Church, 58 Church Street, Glenbrook, CT 06906. Burial services are private. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
