Connie attended Greenwich High School before graduating from Boston College in 1984 with a degree in Elementary and Special Education. After the millennium, she achieved a Masters in K-12 Reading from Eastern Michigan University. Connie had a passionate and fulfilling career as a teacher, which began in Florida at Orange Center and Lawton Elementary Schools. After settling down in Saline, Michigan, Connie led programs such as children’s safety education, toddler gymnastics, nursery school and many more. She expressed her creativity through the various community education classes she taught.
Special Education was an effortless transition for Connie. She taught at Dicken Elementary School in Ann Arbor, Dodson Elementary in Canton, Old Greenwich Elementary School, and last served as a Special Education/Resource Educator in the Westport Public School system for the past 7 years.
Apart from spending time with her two daughters, one of Connie’s favorite activities was spending time with her several groups of close friends; laughing together and sharing memories while simultaneously creating new ones. She was a skilled tennis player and also enjoyed biking, walking and swimming.
Connie is survived by her two beautiful, loving daughters - Caitlin Jenkins, a graduate of the University of Rhode Island who currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Kristen Jenkins, a graduate of Cornell University who resides in New York City.
Her mother, Mary A. Murray, and siblings also survive her: Cathy (Bill) Horn, Cindy (David) Schutzman, Michael Murray, George Murray and Caroline (Bradley) Mock. Her father, George Murray and her brother, Dennis Murray, predeceased Connie. Connie also spent a great deal of joyous times surrounded by her many nieces and nephews.
Connie spent much of her free time at Greenwich Point -- picnicking with family and friends -- walking, bike riding, reading and watching the sunset. As such, in lieu of flowers, donations in her name to Greenwich Point Conservatory would honor her. Greenwich Point Conservatory, P.O. Box 377 Old Greenwich, CT 06870, Greenwichpoint.org.
A memorial service will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, 469 North St. Greenwich, CT on Wednesday, June 18th, 2014 at 4pm.
