Alice was born in Queens, NY, on April 9, 1940, to William and Alice Hellawell. In 1960, Alice married Pierce (Pete) Foster. They resided in Old Greenwich and had three children together: Pierce Jr., Jennifer, and Thomas. They divorced in 1972.
Alice was employed for many years at GE Capital in Stamford. She was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed playing in groups and online. She was a self-described “foodie,” and an accomplished amateur chef. Alice will be missed by her legion of friends, many of whom spent countless hours with her during her final years and were incredibly supportive throughout her life.
Alice was pre-deceased by her beloved son Thomas William, (pictured with her in photo) who died in 1989.
Alice is survived by her children Pierce Foster, Jr. of Greenwich, and Jennifer Blunier of Scottsdale, Arizona, as well as their spouses, Claudia Foster and Chris Blunier. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Margaret and Henry Foster, and Madeleine, Jack and Caroline Blunier, as well as her brother Peter Hellawell of New Jersey, three nephews and one niece.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society. To leave an online condolence please visit www.leopgallaghergreenwich.com
