William Harold Killian, 92, of Taylors passed away peacefully on February 17, 2015.
His beloved and devoted wife of 65 years, Betty Ann Taylor Killian, lovingly cared for him as his health declined.
Born in Statesville, NC he was a son of the late William Oliver Killian and Pearl Frye Killian.
He received a BA from Wake Forest University, Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and did post graduate studies at Princeton, Columbia and Furman Universities. Rev. Killian was ordained into the ministry in 1946. His full- time pastorates were First Baptist Church, Jeffersonville, IN; First Baptist Church, Drexel, NC; First Baptist Church, Brevard, NC; and Earle Street Baptist Church, Greenville, SC. After retirement, he served in various capacities at New Hope Baptist Church, Mauldin, SC; Edwards Road Baptist Church, Greenville, SC; and Taylors First Baptist Church, Taylors, SC. Known for his amicable, kind and engaging spirit, it was said, "Harold makes a big church feel like a small church." He loved golfing, gardening and leading study trips to the middle east.
He is survived by: his wife, Betty Ann Taylor Killian; four children, Gregory Taylor Killian and wife, Lauren, of Hilton Head Island, SC; Janet Lynn Killian and husband, Glover Little, of Hendersonville, NC; Pamela Ann Killian Phillips and husband Steve, of Columbia, SC; and Kathy Killian Noe and husband, Bernie, of Seattle, WA.
He dearly loved his grandchildren: Justin Wagner Killian, Mark Oliver Killian, Lydia Anne Killian, Patrick Gregory Killian, Zachary Rockwell Neill and wife, Laura, Isaac Killian Neill, Matthew Stephen Phillips and wife, Emily, Melody Ann Phillips Watson and husband Cory, Kietrie Rebecca Noe, and Phoebe Killian Noe.
Also surviving is one sister, Carolyn Killian Tillman and husband Phillip, of Greensboro, NC, and one brother, Michael Killian of Statesville, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the numerous caregivers who blessed Harold and his family through their loving service.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Taylors First Baptist Church, with Rev. Edwin Young, Rev. Stephen C. Clyborne, and Rev. Kevin Batson, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 1:45pm in the Gathering Space of the church.
