Walter Ray Slagle of Taylors, SC, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 31st. He served his country in the Marine Corps between World War II and the Korean conflict. Walt was in the 2nd Service Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, was a member of the South Pacific Pistol and Rifle Team, and was stationed in Guam for the duration of his military service. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Eleanor I. Slagle, and he is survived by his current wife of 12 years, Beverly F. Slagle. Walt is also survived by five children and spouses—Ray and Matsi Slagle, Sandy and Joe Peeples, Randy and Dana Slagle, Susan and Paul Slusher, Rick and Kelly Slagle, a sister, Shirley George of Anaheim, CA, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
