Tom Carlton Law, passed away on July 19, 2022 with his wife, Nan Talbot Law, by his side. He was survived by his two daughters, Betts Law Brown and Martha Law McWhorter, his four grandchildren, Kathleen Frances Bott (Andrew), Christopher Bates Law, Corinne Elizabeth Law, and Allison Marie Kokan (Alex), and his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Kendrick Law. He also has two great-grandchildren, Emma Christine Bott and Ellison Marie Bott.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Frances Manci Law, his brother, Maurice (Mef) Franklin Law, Jr, his son, Thomas Canton Law and both parents, Maurice Franklin Law, Sr, and Marie Canton Law. Mr Law was born August 12, 1929 in Selma, Alabama. He was 92 years old.
Mr. Law grew up in Linden, Alabama. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Benning, GA and later in Germany. He was a graduate of Auburn University, worked at RCA and American Oil Company. He then decided to move to Albany, GA where he purchased Albany Candy Company and took it from a small candy and tobacco jobber to a full-line food distributor and changed the name to ACC Distributors, Inc..
Mr. Law was an active member of the community. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, First United Methodist Church, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, Hospice, Meals on Wheels, The Boys and Girls Club Board, and the Board at the YMCA.
In his free time he loved to travel. He would drive up to the Nantahala River to go whitewater kayaking, or get in a single engine plane and fly himself to the coast. He and Nan even took a boat down the Amazon River. He liked to run in local road races, go on bike rides, go horseback riding on his horse, Domino, do crossword puzzles and read a lot of books! His favorite activity would have been after his got his CDL license and was able to drive the semi trucks for ACC..
