He is survived by the love of his life, Betty Howe, whom he loved dearly in marriage for 59 years. Additionally, he is survived by his son, Tommy Howe (Lisa), of Jacksonville, Florida, and his daughter, Susan H. McClure (Mark), of Greer, South Carolina. Tom was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Brett Howe, Kimberly, Anna Leigh, Alexandria, Kathryn, and Abigail McClure, all of whom he adored. Also surviving are his brother, James Howe, of Savannah, Georgia and sister, Glenda Ann Barnard, of Register, Georgia.
Tom embodied the phrase "thy good and faithful servant." He served our country in the Air Force, and was a devoted member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church. His vivacious personality and contagious smile allowed for a successful career as a salesman of many kinds, primarily industrial packaging supplies. His zest for life was profoundly admirable and he never met a stranger. His love for sports trickled down to his grandchildren, and he never missed a sports game of theirs.
Above all else, Tom loved the Lord fervently. He never gave up an opportunity to further the Kingdom and share Christ's love. His family is comforted by the image of his Homecoming, and will forever cherish the memories of his life, well lived.
Visitation to be held at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Taylors, on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at 10 am, followed by a memorial service at 11 am. Private burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park to follow. Donations on Tom’s behalf may be made to Brushy Creek Baptist Church, 4999 Old Spartanburg Rd., Taylors, SC 29687.
