Susan Strack McClure (February 11, 1956 – June 29, 2016) Born in Anchorage, Alaska on February 11, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Major Francis Leroy Strack and the late Katherine McCoy Simonson. She was raised in Greenville, SC, where she graduated from Greenville High School in 1974. She attended Anderson College and later graduated from the University of South Carolina.
She is survived by her husband James Stephen McClure and her daughter Hailey Caroline Crocker of Greenville, SC, future son-in-law, Ryan Thomas Miller, of Rutherfordton, NC, and by her stepdaughter Madeline Wells McClure and stepson James Ian McClure both of Greenville, SC. She is also survived by a brother Jeffrey Francis Strack, of Crestview, FL, her sister Constance Annette Strack Hennett and Dennis Hennett of Greer, SC and sister Sally Lynn Strack Thompson and Wayne Thompson of Townville, SC.
Using her degree in Art History, Susan co-founded Crocker and Cox Interiors from 1984 through 1992. Afterwards, she pursued a very successful career in commercial flooring with CMH Flooring Products up until her retirement in 2015.
Mrs. McClure was a member of 4th Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC.
Susan and her family were beyond thankful for the support system that was constant and unwavering in Susan’s final year. Throughout her very fulfilling life, she displayed a zest for life that was admired by all and allowed her amass an army of friends, family and coworkers who all considered Mom their best friend. She was adored by all and adored everyone just as much in return.
A service to celebrate the life of Susan will be held at 12pm Sunday, July 3, 2016 in the Chapel of The Mackey Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the service until 3pm at the mortuary.
Burial will be private.
