May 27, 1956 – October 21, 2019
Taylors, SC
It is with broken hearts that the Lax family announce the peaceful passing of Steven Michael Lax on Monday, October 21, 2019, with his family by his side. Steven was 63 years old and a resident of Taylors, South Carolina.
Steven was born at the Gorgas Hospital, Ancon, Canal Zone in Panama on May 27, 1956, making him eligible to have dual citizenship. He graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. degree in Agriculture and Natural Resources. As an executive level salesman that did the job and life the right way, Steven was “one of the good guys” in the industry. At the end of the day he might have an amber ale and discuss the day with his dog!
Steven was passionate about his journey in life which included swimming, fishing, hunting, skiing, singing in the choir, and beekeeping, just to name a few. His respect and love of the natural world was endless. His most passionate purpose was being a coach in life and sports to his girls and grandchildren. Believe it or not, some of those lessons learned stuck with them!
He was a beloved husband and best friend to Kathleen (Talboom) Lax, an amazing father to four daughters, Amy, Jennifer, Heather and Lerin, papa to 6 grandchildren, Madisyn, MacKenna, Maddox, Jacob, Myles and Leona, a loving son of Barbara J. Lax and his predeceased father, William M. Lax. He will always and forever be remembered by his two brothers Bill, and Scott, his sister Faith, in laws, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, whom he loved and was well loved in return.
These are the accomplishments and truths that matter and forever remain.
Steven will be missed and always loved.
A celebration of Thanksgiving for Steven’s life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.
