Born in Spartanburg, SC, Ryan is survived by his mother, Shelley Hodge and stepfather, Jeremy Hodge of Greenville, SC; his father, Ronnie Emory of Chesnee, SC and two brothers, Spencer Lee Emory of Boiling Springs, SC and Hunter Bryant Emory of Spartanburg, SC.
Ryan is the grandchild of Barbara and Michael Lee of Fairforest, SC and Bonnie and the late Jimmy Emory of Chesnee, SC.
Ryan was a remarkable young man whose smile brightened up every room he entered and endeared him to every stranger from whom he removed that title. Ryan loved to draw, and was an avid movie fan who could be as likely found watching Alvin and the Chipmunks as rocking out to his iPod. It was his love of film and music that fueled his dream of owning and operating a video store.
Ryan was also an athlete. He competed in Special Olympics as a bowler, runner, and jumper, and there was never more energy in the young man’s eyes as when he was rewarded for hard competition. Perhaps the only thing that could fire Ryan up as much as his own competitive urge was to watch Clemson football, which he followed closely.
When not playing sports, Ryan could be found getting thrills behind the wheel of a go-cart, or, if he wanted to slow things down, going to the mall and finding people to listen to stories.
Pallbearers will be Mike Lee, Spencer Emory, Jeff Emory, Josh Gilstrap, Greg Manganelli, and Jason Ross.
