Ruth Easterby Hilton Little, 88, wife of the late Dr. Henry Thomas Little passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at her home with family and special caregiver by her side.
She was the daughter of Colonel and Mrs. Roy Carter Hilton of Laurens, SC.
Ruth attended Ashley Hall in Charleston, SC and was a graduate of Furman University. She was a devoted and active member of First Baptist Church Greenville where she taught Sunday school, was a Circle leader for many years and also served on the Kindergarten board. Ruth had been a member and past president of the following organizations; Greenville County Dental Auxiliary, Carolinian Debutante Club, Wildwood Garden Club and the Wednesday Book Club. Ruth’s roles of wife, mother, & Nana were the focus and highlights of her life. Her legacy to her family is the gift of witnessing how she carried out each of these with pure devotion, grace and love. Her love of life was always apparent, through her kindness, generosity, and love to others. She so treasured all of her many many friends with whom she shared wonderful times, experiences and laughter.
She is survived by a son, Tommy Little and wife Vickie of Greenville, and daughters Anne Little Bagwell and husband Scott of Charlotte, NC, and Cathy Little Lewis and husband Dave of Greenville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Thomas Little, David Little and wife Kate, Laura Little Thompson and husband Scott, Richard Bagwell, Catherine Bagwell, Lyndsey Lewis, Mary Carter Lewis, and a great grandson, Charlie Thompson.
She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. George Starnes of Batesburg, SC.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, January 28, 2015 at the home from 5:30 until 7:30pm.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 1:00pm at First Baptist Church Greenville, with private burial in Laurens, SC immediately following the church service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 847 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
