Roy M. Gullick age 97, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017. Roy was born in Greenville’s Sans Souci area to the late Carl Lee Gullick and Lucy Mauldin Gullick. He is predeceased by his brothers, Carl Lee Gullick, Jr., Herbert D. Gullick and sister Mary Gullick Wardlaw. Roy attended Clemson College until returning home to run the family business. Roy was a Realtor & Earned the Certified Property Manager designation. He was instrumental in starting the SC Chapter 72 of CPM and was the first president of the chapter. He was Realtor of the Year in 1962. Roy began his tenure at Boy Scouts of America Troop 19 in 1939 as an Assistant Scoutmaster and soon after became Scoutmaster at age 19. He served continuously, except for his service during WWII, until 2000 when he was named Scoutmaster Emeritus. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and earned the Silver Beaver Award and Silver Good Shephard Award amongst others. Notable Troop 19 members are former Governor/US Secretary of Education, Richard Riley and Major Rudolph Anderson, Jr., the only casualty of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Roy was an American Legion Member for over 68 years and Charter Member of Post 214. Until he was 90, Roy would be found on Christmas Eve helping to pack Goodfellow boxes for the needy in Greenville County. Roy was the keystone in keeping the 812th Buddy Club (812th Ordinance Depot), his unit in World War II having reunions on Labor Day each year after WWII until 2014. Roy is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Mitchell Gullick, Jr. and Sarah Traylor, John Pierce Gullick and Cyndi Morgan; grandchildren, Bryan Mitchell Gullick and his wife Heather, Jessica Gullick Granger and her husband John, Phillip Mullinax and his wife Deana; Kellie Mullinax Brewer and her husband Brent; and six great-grandchildren. |The family is at the home of Roy and Sarah Gullick, 209 Augusta Drive, Greenville, SC. Funeral services will be held on the morning of Monday, September 4, 2017 at 11:00 with visitation beginning at 10:00 at The Mackey Mortuary, 311 Century Drive. Interment will follow at Springwood Cemetery. Rev. Dan Vincent and Rev. Dr. Greg Dover will be presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 W.
