Ronald David Kilpatrick

Born in Greenville, SC, on February 10, 1949, to Claude M. and Lois (Owen) Kilpatrick Phillips, Ron grew up in the City View area of Greenville and enjoyed playing baseball with his local mill village friends at Monaghan Field. A 1967 graduate of Parker High School, he worked at The Wilds Christian Camp and Conference Center in Brevard, NC, during the summers while he was in college. Ron graduated with an education degree from Bob Jones University in 1972. He and his beloved wife, Jenell, were married 47 years.

Throughout his career, Ron taught secondary science at several schools including Pensacola Christian Academy (Pensacola, FL), Falls Road Baptist Church School (Rocky Mount, NC), and Hampton Park Christian School (Greenville, SC). During several years in Hartsville, SC, he served as the school administrator at Emmanuel Christian School. Upon moving back to Greenville in 1987, Ron worked as a construction foreman for Edwards Builders before returning to the classroom. In addition to his roles as teacher and administrator, Ron was a beloved coach and athletic director, known for his compassion, practical advice, and wise sayings.

Ron is survived by his wife, Ara Jenell (Edwards) Kilpatrick; two daughters, Ara Beth Ford (Ben) of Travelers Rest, and Rebecca Kilpatrick of Taylors; one son, Jonathan Kilpatrick of Greenville; and one brother, Joseph Kilpatrick (Mary Ann) of Lakeland, Florida. He is also survived by three grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

A committal service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Hampton Park Baptist Church, with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM. The service will be livestreamed at www.hamptonpark.org
