Born November 2, 1924 in Lynchburg, VA, he was a son of the late Harry E. and Agnes E. Purvis.
Mr. Purvis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty E. Thomas Purvis; a brother, Harry Purvis; and a sister, Edna Bassani.
He is survived by his children, Richard Neal Purvis (Linda) of Pineville, NC, and Charles Robert Purvis (Deborah) of Greer; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Rose Marie Thomas of Pembroke Pines, FL.
A private celebration of his life for family and friends will take place on Friday, March 25, 2016.
The family would like to thank the staff at Dogwood Cottage at Brushy Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
