Robert “Bob” Vincent Haden, 79, of Taylors, SC joined the Lord on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. He was born in Gainesville, FL, to the late Julius and Ann Haden. He grew up in Bridgeport, CT and went to military school in North Carolina. Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia; stepdaughters, Dawn Ziegler (Jamie) and Tracie Johncox; grandson, Christopher James; beloved family and many friends. He is predeceased by his son, Robert Haden; and brothers, Frank and Michael Piccirillo.
Bob graduated from Broward Community College and attended the University of Miami. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and Merchant Marine. He was a police officer in Florida for 30 years, serving in Belle Glade, Dania Beach, and Hialeah Gardens where he retired as a sergeant. During his tenure in Hialeah Gardens, Bob served as a DARE school resource officer. He was president of Diabetic Services, Inc. in Hollywood, FL and Greenville, SC from 1999 to 2007. Bob retired to Greenville, SC where he worked as a jail deputy and volunteered as a court liaison where he worked with troubled youth.
Bob was dedicated to his family and was known for his constant sense of humor and good nature. He had a great love for travel that started with the Merchant Marine and continued with many worldwide trips with his wife of 40 years. He enjoyed football, especially the Miami Dolphins. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group and took many road trips on his Harley Davidson, including a solo trip across the U.S. He rode his Harley from Greenville to Rochester, NY, for 17 straight years to attend the International Jazz Festival. He enjoyed antique cars, was a member of the AACA—South Carolina Region, and could be seen driving his 1956 Cadillac around town. He loved films, theatre, and music, especially jazz and blues. Bob was an animal lover and cherished his three Yorkshire Terriers and his wife’s horse Cash.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 6, at 10:00 at Mackey Mortuary at 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Legion of Greenville, SC, or Rosemary Farm Equine Sanctuary in South Kortright, NY.
