Beloved by his family and friends, Kent was a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist.
Born in Greenville, SC on February 27, 1932, Kent was the son of late Emil Veldee “Buck” Thompson and Ruth Ann Timms. Kent attended Greenville Senior High School class of 1951. Upon graduation, he received his commission in the United States Navy where he served in communications.
Kent is survived by his son Carter Grosvenor Thompson wife Kristen; brothers Franklin Levi Thompson, wife Mary and Tommy Timms Thompson wife Patricia and Ralph Edward Thompson wife Pat; and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one son Craig Brewster Thompson; one brother William David Thompson; one sister Peggy Ann Thompson.
A memorial service for Kent will take place this Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Buncombe Street United Methodist of Greenville 200 Buncombe Street Greenville, SC 29601 at 11:00 am.
