Richard Randolph (Randy) Hilton, loving husband of Phyllis Baird Hilton, passed away on May 31, 2024 after a long illness. He was the son of Estelle Burroughs Hilton and Franklin Patrick Hilton of Conway, SC.
Randy graduated with honors from Furman University where he was Cadet Lieutenant Colonel, President of the Wesley Foundation, Tau Kappa Epsilon and Interfraternity Council. He was Student of the Year in 1960. After graduating, he served with the Army Security Agency in Herzogenaurach, Germany at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Cold War.
After returning home, he joined the South Carolina National Bank, and after attending the LSU School of Banking he served in Greenville and Bennettsville for 20 years. He later transferred to the Palmetto Bank where he worked for 16 years before retiring as Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Officer. He was President of Rotary Clubs in Bennettsville and Simpsonville and was a Paul Harris Fellow.
Randy loved animals, hiking, traveling, and volunteering with Mended Hearts. He was one of the original founders of the Greenville Chapter 412 of Mended Hearts, President of the local chapter and a volunteer for 13 years.
He is survived by Phyllis Hilton, his wife of 63 years, son Terry Hilton, daughter Tracey Hilton, and sister Patricia Strachan.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Buncombe Street Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 5th. Receiving at 2:00 pm and service at 3:00 pm.
