A man of unwavering faith, Reverend Richard's journey began in Silva, North Carolina where he grew up under the guidance of his parents. Following his high school graduation, he dedicated a chapter of his life to the military, serving with honor and courage during the Korean War. Yet, it was the divine calling to ministry that would define the greater part of his remarkable life.
With zeal and dedication, Reverend Richard embarked on a pastoral journey that spanned over two decades. His commitment to spreading the word of God led him to pastor and evangelize across the country, leaving an indelible mark on the communities he touched.
Reverend Richard’s spiritual leadership helped found and establish several churches, each one a testament to his unwavering commitment to his calling. He was a shepherd to many congregations including: Townes Street Church of God, Park Place II Church of God, and Garden of Prayer Church of God, all located in Greenville, SC, and Hill Street Church of God in York, SC.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Odell and Grace Bryson, his first wife, Elizabeth Annie Bryson, his brother and sisters; Odessa, Sol James, John Robert, Dorsey Jean Lillian, Minnie Jo, Emma Lou, Jane Caroline, Herbert, David Bryson, Ray Ebremem, Jacqueline Wilson, Frances Linda, and granddaughter Angela Bryson. Reverend Richard Bryson is survived by his devoted wife, Melissa Bryson, his sister, Yvonne Mc Dowell and brother, Ferrell Bryson. He leaves behind a legacy that lives on through his children: Sharon Craig, Richard (Sheena) Bryson Jr., Lena Carlton, Eunice (Demmick) Lewis, Adam Bryson, Hattie Bryson, Dennis (Patricia) Bryson, Israel (Beatrice) Bryson, and Robert Hellams. Also, a multitude of family members, including 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
