Richard worked in the asphalt industry for many years. He most recently worked for Rogers Group. He loved to hunt and cook. He also loved NASCAR and the lake, but more than anything, he loved his family.
Richard is survived by his wife, Shelby Austell; his son Maverick Austell; and his daughter Ryleigh Austell; his father Richard Jr. Austell (Mary) and his mother Pamela Woody (Kevin); his two sisters Erica Redd (Jesse) and Heather Woody; his paternal grandmother Eleanor Henderson and his maternal grandfather Dexter Kirby. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Richard will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's memory may be made to his son Maverick Austell, checks need to be made payable to NFS P.O. Box 1329, Boiling Springs, North Carolina 28017 and add Maverick AUSTELL on the memo line.
