Born March 31, 1931 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late D.M. and Mary P. Stovall. Ray graduated from Parker High School where he was president of the student body, played baseball, and basketball, and was a cheerleader. He also attended Spartanburg Methodist College and Furman University. After traveling the southeast for 35 years for Broyhill Industries, he retired in 1996. He was a member of St. Paul Anglican Church.
Ray is survived by his wife, Elaine Stubley Stovall; a son, Richard H. Stovall (Gena); a daughter, Victoria DePrete (Ken); three stepsons, Dr. Robinson Stubley (Meg), Mark Stubley (Susan), and Stephen Stubley (Corey); three sisters, Marion S. Hart (Carl), Patsy Hardman (Delmar), and Carole Cleveland; fourteen grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his birth mother, Ruby Adams Stovall; a brother, Jimmy Stovall; and his first wife, Nancy P. Stovall.
A private graveside service for family only will be held.
